Here is the final video for our flash mob project. It sums up everything from rehearsals to the big day at the festival. Special thanks to those who contributed their video footage.
If you would like to download a copy of the video, go to the video page on Vimeo and the link is in the bottom right corner. You'll have to create a Vimeo account to access it.
There is a small clip up on the Pumpkin Festival website. To see it, go to pumpkinfestival.com and click on the "Interactive Feature" movie icon at the top of the page (or here is a direct link). When you see the map, click the movie icon next to Railroad Street (about where we performed the dance).
"It began with a couple tangoing Saturday at 11 a.m. on Main Street during Keene Pumpkin Festival. Then eight other dancers emerged from the growing crowd of onlookers and joined the couple.
They launched into the mambo. And then 60 more people, children and adults, joined the dance. A mixed tape was cued up. Hip hop and pop songs blared form nearby speakers. More people began dancing, about 150 in all. They jumped and jiggled in the street, moving their arms and hips to the rhythm. They laid in the street for a moment when the routine was over, and then they stood and walked away in different directions, absorbed back into the roaming groups of festival-goers."
We want to put together a final movie and photo album of our dance so we can share all the fun we had and what we accomplished. If you want to help us out, please send any pictures and/or video footage you may have, including the dance, audience reactions, rehearsals, etc. You can give a copy to the organizer Kellie Jones or email it to pumpkinfestdance@gmail.com. Please send submissions by THURSDAY OCTOBER 22.
THANK YOU to everyone that participated. It was tons of fun!
Here is video from the second rehearsal that was on October 11.
If you need more resources to help you practice for the dance, including notes, music, and more video footage, check the earlier blog post here.
Invite your friends to participate. The more the merrier! If you need additional help learning the steps, contact Ann's Studio of Dance to join her practice sessions this week.
We'll see you all next weekend! Arrive about a half hour early to get into position, and remember to account for heavy traffic in the Keene area.
The flash mob will take place at these times during the Pumpkin Festival:
Friday, October 16 @ 7 PM
and
Saturday, October 17 @ 11 AM
Please arrive about a half hour early if you are participating in the dance. Remember, there will be loads of traffic in the Keene area, so plan ahead!
